Nonetheless, it doesn't mean that it is easy to become a real estate agent. If you hope to launch a career in this field, you will need to dedicated a great deal of time and effort to your studies.
Taking Real Estate Classes
The first step to becoming a real estate agent is to take the proper classes. Often, you can take real estate classes at a local community college or other facility that provides continuing education classes. Before signing up for real estate classes, however, make sure the courses are approved by your state.
In order to become a real estate agent, you must first complete real estate career training through an approved real estate program. If the program is not approved by the state, you will not be allowed to complete the examination that is necessary for obtaining your real estate license.
Taking the Real Estate Exam
By completing your real estate coursework, you should be well prepared for the real estate examination. Nonetheless, it is essential to study for the examination before taking the test, as it can be a bit trickier than you might think. For example, some of the questions on the exam ask you to apply the concepts you have learned in your real estate classes, which means successfully passing the examination requires more than just memorizing information.
Some people do pass the test the first time they take it, but be prepared to take the test multiple times in order to finally pass it. Once you do pass the test, you will finally be able to work as a real estate agent.
Building a Reputation
Of course, launching a career in real estate requires more than just taking the proper real estate career training and completing an examination. If you hope to build a client base and to be successful in the field, you need to establish a reputation and build up a base of contacts.
In order to get your foot in the door in the real estate world, you will need to lean the tricks of trade from other professional in the field. One great place to start is at your local real estate agents' association, which can be found in most large cities. These groups and clubs meet on a regular basis in order to exchange information, which is very helpful for a real estate agent that is just getting started in the field.
Continuing Your Education
After you have completed the coursework and passed the real estate examination, you will have to take additional classes in order to maintain your licensing. Therefore, you will need to be prepared to continue taking real estate classes even after you have successfully launched your career.
By taking these continuing education classes, you will also stay up to date in the latest changes in the field. This will ensure that you are capable of serving your clients to the best of your abilities, which will further help with building your reputation and solidifying your career in real estate."

Great intro by Eric, however, I wanted to mention one other important criteria of real estate career training that they don't cover very well, if at all, in most training programs, and that is the topic of "where will you be able to get warm leads" as soon as you start.
If you haven't thought about it then you need to get beyond the concept of working your little "network" and start thinking big if you plan on being able to pay your bills.
There is a lead generating system that truly works that you can actually call you own and that no one can ever take away from you. I'd like you to add this aspect to your real estate career training so that you can avoid a lot of the struggles many new agents face.
Tips on generating interested real estate leads...
If you're a real estate agent in today's market, you need to understand one all important fact: over 80% of all buyers start their home search online. Buyers today don't pick up a newspaper, a magazine or a phone book to contact an agent. Buyer leads for Realtors come in through the internet.
If your lead generation strategy doesn't focus primarily on generating online real estate leads, your strategy needs to change and it needs to change fast. This is a vital component of any real estate career training program.
How Do I recommend generating Online Real Estate Leads?
Today's buyers have access to almost all of the MLS data that the average agent does, so how in the world can you possible compel them to give you their personal information? Even if you manage to have a buyer visit your website, getting them to register with an email address or phone number so you can capture real estate leads can seem daunting.
Here are the tricks agents I consult with have learn in thier real estate career training and used to capture buyer leads for thier business in my town:
- Don't Force the Issue: Many agents' websites don't allow access to any housing information prior to registration. This is a huge mistake. Once a buyer see that your website won't provide them the information they're seeking, they are much more likely to visit another website than to give you their personal data. A successful website allows buyers to search and browse all the homes they want. Registration is only required to access special features.
- Give Buyers a Reason to Register: Today's internet users are increasingly skeptical of giving out their personal data to anyone online. To get around this perceived risk so you can capture real estate internet leads, you need to give the buyers something of value for signing up on your website. Providing access to detailed school information or crime rates can be a great incentive to buyers. Successful agents provide a daily alert service that emails buyers new listings in their areas if they provide them their contact information. Be creative, every area has special needs. Give it to your online real estateleads and they will turn into clients.
- Assure and Reassure Them: When you do ask for buyers to enter their information, make it clear that you don't redistribute your information to others. One of my customers was able to triple the buyer leads for thier office by including a small paragraph assuring buyers that no other lender, appraiser, or bank would contact them and that they would never sell their information. In addition, on the page displayed immediately after they capture real estate leads, they re-assure the buyer that the information they just provided is safe and secure.
What if I Don't Have My Own Website?
Many agents make a great living from online real estate leads that are generated from websites that they don't own. Again, this tool was acquired as part of thier real estate career training. There are a number of websites that capture real estate internet leads and resell them to agents.
Most of these services charge a monthly fee (between $29 - $59 a month) and send every lead received for a specific area to the registered Realtor. Signing up with just one or two of these services can create enough buyer leads for Realtors that investing in their own real estate website isn't necessary. But this is rare because of the quality of the real estate leads.
However you generate online real estate leads, the important thing is that you do generate them. With over 80% of buyers starting their home search online, if you don't get their information, your competitors will! Your competition in many cases is including this tactic in thier real estate career training.
There are several systems available that detail how to generate buyer leads for Realtors. Some brokers keep a review site up to date to help other real estate agents save money on Realtor leads. You can read these reviews on systems to capture real estate internet leads here.
However, I tend to recommend that real estate professionals, especially independent agents, take the time to set up their own site rather than paying for their leads each month as part of thier of reat estate career training.
I recommend this route for a couple of reasons:
>why should someone else control your source of leads? You can still purchase leads as your building your site but the your goal should be to ween yourself off of this source.
If you don't think you have the time or skill to set up a successful site then you're selling yourself short as well as handicapping your future. There is a site building system that guarantees your success and is being used by more and more self-employed professionals to generate leads for thier business each year.
