Perry Marshall Course
Is this free 5 day course worth your time?
Review of Perry Marshall's 5 Days to Success With Google AdWordsAs I search for different programs that claim to make you an expert in Pay Per Click advertising, I came across the Perry Marshall course, 5 Days to Success with Google AdWords. Overall, the course is pretty lightweight, but it does have a few good pieces of information.Day 1: In this introduction, Marshall explains that the one thing that matters to Google is relevance, which is determined by how many people click on your ad. If people click on you, you're rewarded for it with lower costs and if they don't, you'll pay more for the privilege of being on their search page. Plus, get an easy trick to help you write better ads: pretend you're the customer. Day 2: This session of the Pery Marshall course describes the way you actually pay for clicks in the Google AdWords model. It's not your bid price - it's only 1 cent above the company or person in the position below you. But again, your clickthrough rate (CTR), which represents your relevancy, is much more important because Google is actually maximizing total revenue based on total clicks and cost per click. Day 3: This session of the Perry Marshall course doesn't share much more new information. The bottom line here is that small changes in your ad copy can mean big improvements in CTRs so test, test, test to keep improving your ad to save you money and get you more traffic. Day 3 - Keywords: There is a bonus lesson on Day 3, which I found interesting. Make sure you bid on enough keywords - that will get you into the long-tail keywords, not just the popular ones - so you can have some that are lower in cost to balance out your budget. Day 4: This day basically says that you can use Google as your testing ground for new products or ideas. If you can't find enough keywords that people are searching on, or if you don't get enough clicks, then your idea probably won't make you any money. Marshall also introduces the concept of Google Cash, which appears to be an affiliate marketing program where you take the risk in buying the click from the Google Ad and then you get paid if the user completes a certain action, like making a purchase or signing up for something. It sounds interesting, but perhaps like a lot of work. I will review that program at another time. Day 5: This session of the Perry Marshall course comes down to the bottom line that you can optimize Google AdWords and get plenty of traffic to your site, but that the second part of your success is your site itself. You need to optimize your site to get the results you want from your campaign. So, it's not just about testing upon testing in Google AdWords, you need to be able to test your website's landing page to make sure you're converting your visitors into customers who complete the action you desire. As I said earlier, this program does have a few good nuggets, but it wasn't enough to entice me to pay $50 for the program. I'll continue to look for other sources of information in the PPC arena. Since the course is free it may well be worth your time and consideration if you're truly looking to advance your business online. You can enroll right now in the
