How do give your website browser appeal? Without it you won't get much attention...Several years ago when I was in the process of building my current site I wasn't 100% convinced that I could build a site that had enough browser appeal to attract the market I was going after. At the time I had also made the decision to join a traffic generating service called LinkReferral. In simple terms the members of this network could generate targeted traffic by visiting websites within a specific niche and providing honest reviews for the website owners. As I viewed these sites I could see a wide variety of styles and varying degrees of quality. Some of them had me asking, "what were these people thinking?", do they honestly think anyone is going to take this site seriously? Fortunately I had chosen a website building service that took the time to teach me the key ingredients that every successful website needed to have in order to compete on the world-wide web. The basic ingredients to achieve this success can be summarized in the following acronym...C-T-P-M. Content If you plan on grabbing the attention of web surfers, not to mention search engines, then you need to have what they want...content that answers questions or solves problems. Visitors must associate value with your content. Don't try to be cute. Their not interested in all your fancy bells and whistles or how cool your site's background looks. They don't know you and they're not online to meet you. In order for your website to succeed it needs to start at the same place these browsers are starting...at the search function. Traffic If you've done your planning and research and you've created a web page that actually provides unique information on the subject (your keywords, key phrases) you've chosen and visitors find it informative and helpful, the search engines will begin to recognize you as an authority on the subject. A snowball effect begins to take shape and you now begin to see more of this organic traffic...free traffic come your way. Your page begins to attract more eyeballs, it gets bookmarked and also linked to a number of blog posts. You actually start going viral. PreSell These visitors who started out initially as strangers now consider you to be a trusted source. The initial web page that brought the two of you together is now a platform for them to jump over to other web pages of your site. You now continue to over-deliver on the promise your headline alluded to. They begin to actually like you. You're now writing to friends not total strangers. They are more apt to take action on your recommendations. Monetize So now you've gone past the introduction stage and your visitors are comfortable with you and you know them better than you did before. There's a real relationship developing here. What are you going to do now? This is the easy part, you can now turn this warm interested traffic into eager buyers. After all, you've taken the time to learn about their needs and wants, you have the information, service and/or product they need. It's time to present your solution. This is where owning a well-built website really pays off. Be Responsible Remember, as a website owner you have a responsibility to meet the needs of your visitors. If you do that within the confines of a relationship built over time you should not feel awkward or hesitant to recommend a product or service to solve their problem. You owe it to them. They've come to you for help now it's time to deliver. This is how many private websites are succeeding in spite of fierce competition from large, well-financed commercial sites. Using this blueprint you can experience the same results.
Be confident and be patient. Remember, it was the tortoise who won the race. Good luck with your internet business!
